Font licensing
Every font you can download on UrbanFonts is free and open source. You can use every font for both personal and commercial projects without paying a fee or asking for permission.
The short version
If you download a font from UrbanFonts, you can use it in logos, websites, apps, social media, print, merchandise, invitations, presentations and almost anything else. You do not need to credit UrbanFonts, although we always appreciate a mention. You cannot sell the font files themselves or redistribute them as a standalone product.

Common licenses
Most fonts on UrbanFonts are published under one of these two open-source licenses. The exact license for each family is shown on its font page and included in the Complete Collection download.
SIL Open Font License 1.1
The most common license for open-source fonts. Free to use, modify and redistribute with the font, but the font itself cannot be sold alone.
Apache License 2.0
Allows broad commercial and personal use with a clear patent grant. Attribution is appreciated but not required for most uses.
Attribution
Attribution is not required for most open-source fonts, but it is appreciated. If you want to credit a typeface, the designer name and font family name shown on each font page are usually enough.
Questions
If you are unsure whether a specific use is allowed, check the license link on the font page, or contact us. UrbanFonts is operated from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and the fonts themselves are governed by their respective open-source licenses.
